M32 International Class Association

Moves Forward With New Leadership

M32 International Class Association moves ahead with strong leadership

Hönö, Sweden (April 3rd, 2017) – After achieving World Sailing status last year preparations are moving forward for the first ever M32 World Championship in Sweden in July. The regatta is set to take place in the classic racing venue Marstrand on the Swedish west coast. Through good cooperation with the Royal Gothenburg Yacht Club and Aston Harald Composite, the M32 builder, a professional organisation and a supply of lease boats for overseas teams are secured.

With M32 Series now established in Scandinavia, Mediterranean, North America and Western Australia there is a healthy growth and ample opportunity for new owners and teams to try and test the M32. To lengthen the season winter series are being held both in Miami and Monte Carlo.

Mattias Dahlstrom, who initially started the class, will take over race and class management while Richard Davies, successful owner and skipper of M32 Team “Section 16” will take over as Class President. To their aid they have a dedicated team with vast experience of all aspects of racing and class development.

Richard Davies commented: “ I’m delighted and honoured to be asked to support the Class through its next phase of development. In our first season racing the boat, it was clear what a ground breaking design it is, how much fun the racing has been. It provided a new format of racing, which along with the pure pleasure of sailing the boat , will change how we think of one design class. Pure and simple, for 3 knots to 30 knots we had a blast! A solid and well structured Class association along with the ongoing support of the manufacturer, Aston Harald, will ensure both the longevity and success of this Class”.”

The new class website was launched last month on www.m32ica.com and will be filled with relevant information for M32 owners and racers.

The M32ICA continues to have an excellent cooperation with the builder and license holder Aston Harald and the World Match Racing Tour which uses the M32 for their racing. An especially fruitful result of this cooperation is the M32 Academy. The education program originally set up for educating match racers on the M32 now offers a vast program of training and education. Within the M32 Academy you can find modules which are packaged into 1-3 day courses on all aspects of M32 sailing including, M32 Basic Safety and M32 Essential, Starting & Tactics, M32 Match Racing License, M32 Boat Handling, M32 Trim & Speed and M32 Race & Rules. All classes are held by experienced instructors on supplied or own boats.
