The M32 One Design

A 32 foot catamaran

The M32 was first designed in 2011 by well known Swedish sailor Göran Marström, an Olympic bronze medallist at the 1980 Moscow Olympics, and a successful boat builder of catamarans since 1983 including the Tornado, M5 A-Class, M20 catamaran, and the Extreme 40.

Håkan Svensson

Keen sailor and businessman

In 2013, the design and production rights to the M32 were acquired by Swedish company Aston Harald AB, led by keen sailor and businessman Håkan Svensson. After sponsoring a number of high profile yachting projects including the Green Dragon and Puma Volvo Ocean Race teams, Svensson was introduced to the M32 by close friend and Olympic Gold medallist Freddy Lööf in 2012.

M32 Scandinavian Series

Regional professional sailing series

In 2013, the company created the M32 Scandinavian Series for the growing number of M32 owners and teams. The Series includes regattas in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland in close to shore venues. The Series is now an annual fixture in Scandinavia as well as additional events in North America and Bermuda.

World Match Racing Tour

Professional sailing series

In June 2015, Aston Harald acquired the World Match Racing Tour, the global professional sailing series official sanctioned by ISAF (International Sailing Federation) the world governing body of the sport. From 2016, the M32 will be introduced to the World Match Racing Tour, the first time the World Tour has ever competed in multihulls. The company also announced a USD1million prize to the Match Racing World Champion to be awarded at the final event of the season in Marstrand, Sweden in early July 2016.

In December 2015, a brand new carbon composite facility was opened on the island of Hönö, Sweden to manufacture the M32’s. At the same time, the company launched ‘M32 World’ as a marketing brand to encompass the entire event portfolio including M32 Owner events, the M32 Series, and the World Match Racing Tour.
